Celina Oklahoma Drive construction: two dates to check before a downtown trip

On this page

Celina's Oklahoma Drive project page lists October 20, 2026, as the anticipated end of Phase 1, while substantial completion of the full project is expected January 29, 2027. Those are different milestones. Neither date is confirmation that every lane, sidewalk or parking space is open. City project page

Which stretch does the project cover?

The city describes the overall work as North Oklahoma Drive between East Malone Street and East Pecan Street, also signed FM 455. Its first phase covers the shorter stretch from Pecan to Beech. The scope includes concrete roadway reconstruction, parallel parking, sidewalks and drainage improvements. The city describes three construction phases. Project limits and plans

For a downtown errand, match your destination to that street segment before choosing an approach. A citywide road headline cannot tell you whether the entrance to one business or the walking route from one parking spot is available.

A project-wide target; do not substitute it for a reopening notice

The October date is not a promise that the entire project will be finished. Conversely, the later project-wide target does not establish that every affected frontage must remain inaccessible until January. The useful question is what the current traffic-control plan permits at your particular destination.

Before y'all head downtown

  • Reopen the city's project page and inspect its traffic-control and phasing diagrams.
  • Check the official road-closures map linked from the city homepage, then follow current signs on the ground.
  • Ask the business you plan to visit which entrance is available and where customers should park.
  • If your trip involves a stroller, wheelchair or child walking beside you, confirm the continuous pedestrian route rather than assuming a sidewalk on a plan is already usable.

We have not verified a turn-by-turn detour, real-time lane configuration or current accessible entrance for each property. Allow flexibility in the trip, particularly when a construction milestone is approaching.

Where to get a project-specific answer

The engineering project page names the city's project managers and provides their phone numbers. Give the street address, the day you intend to travel and whether you need vehicle or pedestrian access. That is more useful than asking whether Oklahoma Drive is simply “done.”

For wider context, our US-380 segment guide explains why project limits matter. For a family outing after your errands, the Celina kids guide provides alternatives to building the whole afternoon around one downtown stop.

Source check and limits

The city project page was checked October 15, 2026. This is a practical planning guide to a published construction forecast, not a new contract announcement or a verified reopening report. We will update the access information when a current city notice establishes a change.
