Aubrey ISD’s October 21 agenda lists a security exception, debt discussion and purchases

On this page

Aubrey ISD trustees are scheduled to consider a House Bill 3 armed-security “good cause exception” resolution on October 21, 2026. The posted agenda establishes a proposal for consideration, not an adopted exception, a campus staffing change or a finding that a school lacks protection.

The regular meeting is listed for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., in the Aubrey ISD Boardroom, 415 Tisdell, Aubrey. We checked the district-linked BoardBook agenda October 17. It lists item titles but did not expose supporting resolution documents in the accessible public agenda at that check.

What the security item actually establishes

Item 9.D of the official agenda places consideration of the exception resolution on the consent agenda. The text does not identify which campuses it would cover, the proposed duration, the grounds asserted or the alternative arrangements.

Those missing details should not be filled in from another district’s resolution. The agenda does not establish a reduction in officers, a new threat, a particular staffing shortage or the outcome of the coming vote. Check any supporting document added before the meeting, and read the adopted action afterward before describing a change as effective.

Marlene Abbott’s October 16 Aubrey.city preview surfaced the proposal and other agenda topics. We independently read the current BoardBook entry for the meeting details and item labels. We have not interviewed district officials or reviewed a final resolution.

Money and purchasing items to follow

The meeting lists a discussion of the district’s existing debt position with its financial advisor, a public hearing for its FIRST financial-accountability rating, and consideration of a 2026–27 budget amendment. A listed debt discussion is not a new bond election or an approved borrowing amount.

New-business items also include possible use of SAFE Grant Cycle 1 funds, furniture for Elementary School No. 5 and technology purchases for Brockett, Monaco and West elementary schools and Aubrey High School. The accessible item titles do not establish prices, vendors, delivery dates or the amount of a grant expenditure.

This is a way to identify records worth following, not a combined spending total. A future report on costs should use the actual supporting documents and recorded approvals rather than adding figures from unrelated projects.

Facility and enrollment updates are reports

The superintendent’s section lists facility-design/construction and enrollment reports. Those may help families follow growth, but the agenda alone does not announce a school opening date, attendance boundary or enrollment change.

If you are checking which campus serves a new home, use the district’s current address-specific information. Our school-address verification guide explains why a mailing city, a builder’s description and an attendance assignment can differ. Do not change a child’s plans based solely on a meeting’s report title.

How to attend or comment

The district’s public meeting list shows the October 21 meeting, location and posting information. It is linked from Aubrey ISD’s official school-board navigation.

The agenda provides separate public-forum sections for agenda and non-agenda topics. In each case it says people attending must complete a sign-up form and give it to the board secretary before the meeting is convened. The checked agenda does not establish a remote speaking procedure or an individual speaking-time limit; check the district’s current instructions before relying on either.

For questions about accommodations or attendance procedures, contact the district before the meeting. No comment or attendance registration was submitted during our research.

Closed session is not the final action record

The agenda lists a closed session covering several subjects, including legal advice, real estate, personnel and security. It separately provides for a return to open meeting and any resulting action. The presence of a closed-session item does not prove a particular decision has already been made.

Follow the public action and subsequent record for what the board actually approves. This preview does not speculate about confidential discussions, individual employees or security deployment details.

Questions worth checking after Wednesday

  • Was the proposed exception adopted, changed, deferred or removed from consent?
  • Does the public resolution state its scope and duration?
  • What amounts and conditions were actually approved for any purchases or budget amendment?
  • Did a facility report establish a new milestone, or merely update existing work?

Those are follow-up reporting questions, not predictions. Reopen the agenda before going in case the meeting or packet changes. For family activities on other days, see the Aubrey kids guide.
